Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes regrets killing off Kyle Chandler's character, Dylan Young, in season 2. Dylan was a member of the Seattle Police Department Bomb Squad who helped save a patient with a bomb inside his body. Unfortunately, Dylan died when the bomb exploded as he walked down the hallway. Rhimes admitted she didn't want to kill off Chandler's character, and Pompeo added that he was amazing and had won over the audience quickly.

Dylan returned in season 3 in two afterlife episodes, along with Jeffrey Dean Morgan's Denny Duquette.
