Olly Alexander surprised fans at Mighty Hoopla festival by bringing out Girls Aloud members Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh for a performance of their hit song The Promise. Videos of the performance quickly spread on social media, with fans praising the trio's choreography and the crowd joining in to sing late member Sarah Harding's famous line in the song. Harding died in 2021 from breast cancer that had spread to other parts of her body.

Although Girls Aloud have not committed to reuniting soon, Kimberly recently said the band shares a close friendship that has deepened since Harding's death.
